Sauerland is a hiker’s paradise, with its deep forests, gentle rolling hills and valleys, lush meadows, and in between romantic half-timbered villages. The Sauerland countryside offers countless opportunities for hikers, Nordic walkers, strollers and fresh-air lovers. Bike-Arena Sauerland

A highlight in Sauerland are the Bicycle trails with a length of more than 1700 Km, the Arena Sauerland has an exceptionally diverse route network. A perfect blend of trails with an abundance of up and downhill challenges available to suit everyone. From mountain biking to downhill, cross-country, enthusiasts on there racing bikes, or a pleasure trip to the lakes with the entire family; Bicycling is fun, fun … especially in the Bike Arena Sauerland.

Sailing

Whether you have your own boat or hire one, sailing enthusiasts can find ideal conditions on any of the areas four lakes Möhnesee, Hennesee, Sorpesee and Biggesee. Sailing schools, boat rentals (both not available on Biggesee) and dock rentals are available. Membership in one of the renowned yacht and sailing clubs makes it possible to enjoy a whole sailing season in club atmosphere..

Wintersport-Arena Sauerland

It’s a fact that the Sauerland is the largest winter sports area north of the Alps and is relatively snow-sure between mid-December and mid-March. And, if it doesn’t snow? Over one hundred snow cannons are standing by to fulfil the skiers dreams. You have the choice of 57 ski resorts with 148 lifts, averaging from 500 to 843 meters above sea level. There is something for everyone here!  Beginner slopes, slopes with rapid 40% gradient, round courses, groomed trails kilometers long. Snowboard courses, relaxed sledding with uphill lifts, plus challenging sporting events! And, let’s not forget the aprės ski bars!
